Ki Cho Hyung

The word Ki Cho Hyung means "Basic Pattern" in Korea and is the easiest pattern to leam. The Pattern is in a "I" shape. There are 20 movements and the kihap points are at number 8 & number 20.
1. Get into ready stance. Turn left and perform a left low block, left front stance.
2. Step forward and perform a punch with the right hand.
3. Turning to your back, step forward with the right side into a front stance and perform a right low block.
4. Step forward with the left side into a front stance and perform a punch with the left hand.
5. Turn left and step forward into a left front stance and perform a left low block.
6. Step forward with the right side into a front stance and perform a middle punch with the right hand.
7. Step forward with the left side into a front stance and perform a left middle punch.
8. Step forward with the right side into a front stance and perform a middle right punch. KIHAP
9. Bring the back leg to the front and turn to the left three walls. Step into a left front stance. Perform a left low block.
10. Step forward into a right front stance and perform a right middle punch.
11. Turning to your back all the way behind you, step out with the right side into a front stance and perform a right low block.
12. Step with the left side into a front stance and perform a left middle punch.
13. Turn left into front stance and perform a left low block.
14. Step with the right side into a front stance and perform a right middle punch.

4 Direction

1. Step diagonally left, right round house to the midsection.

2. Step diagonally right, left roundhouse to the midsection.

3. Step back with right foot to avoid punch, right leg side kick to mid- section.

4. Step back with right foot to avoid punch, right front kick to midsection. Place kicking foot behind left foot, spin back kick with right leg.

Form

Chun Ji

The meaning ofChun Ji in Korean is "heaven and Earth". The pattern is in a "+" shape, with the first ha;f representing the earth and the second half representing the heaven. There are two different stances involved; the front stance and the back stance. Care must be given to keep them distinct so that there is no confusion as to which stance is being used. There are 19 movements in the pattern with the kihap points at #17 and #19.

1. From the ready stance, turn left 90 degrees and step out into a left front stance and perform a left low block.
2. Using the left hand to measure, step forward into a right front stance and perform a right middle punch.
3. Look over right shoulder. Bring right foot back to rear foot, turn towards your back 180 degrees and step out into a front stance and perform a right low block.
4. Using right hand to measure, step forward into a left front stance and perform a left middle punch.
5. Look to the left 90 degrees. Bring left foot to the rear foot and turn to the left 90 degrees. Step put into a left front stance and perform a left low block.
6. Using left hand to measure, step forward into a right front stance and perform right middle punch.
7. Look over your right shoulder. Bring right foot to the rear foot and turn towards your back 180 degrees and step out into a right front stance, low block.
8. Use right hand to measure, step into a left front stance and perform a left middle punch.
9. Look to left 90 degrees. Bring left foot to rear foot, turn left 90 degrees and step out into a left back stance, left inner forearm block.
10. Using left hand to measure, step forward with right side and switch into a right front stance and perform a right middle punch.
11. Look over right shoulder. Bring right foot to rear foot and turn towards your back 180 degrees and step put into a right back stance, right inner forearm block.
12. Using right hand to measure, step forward with left side and switch into a left front stance and perform left middle punch.
13. Look to left 90 degrees. Bring left foot to rear and turn left 90 degrees. Step out into a left back stance and perform a left inner forearm block.
14. Using left hand to measure, step forward with right hand and switch into a right front stance and perform a right middle punch.
15. Look over your right shoulder, bring right foot to rear and turn towards your back 180 degrees and step out into a right back stance and perform right inner forearm block.
16. Using right hand to measure, step forward with left side and switch into a left front stance and perform a left middle punch.
17. Step forward with right side into a right front stance and perform a right middle punch. KIHAP!
18. Step backwards with the right leg and get into a left front stance. Using right hand to measure, perform a left middle punch.
19. Step backwards with the left leg and get into a right front stance. Using left hand to measure perform a right middle punch. KIHAP!

A Series (A1 - A5)

Al. Step left diagonally into a horse riding stance, left hammer block, double punch starting with the right hand.

A2. Step back with the right foot into a defensive stance, left inner forearm block, step in with the right foot as you throw a right face punch. Finish with a right elbow to the head.

A3. Step right diagonally, left knife hand block, and right knife hand chop to the neck at the same time.

A4. Step in with the right foot as you perform a right hammer block, continue to spin in the same direction, left elbow to the stomach and finish with a left backfist to the face.

A5. Step back with right foot into defensive stance, left outer forearm block. Grab the hand that threw the punch for support and perform a right groin kick followed by a right roundhouse kick without putting the leg down on the ground.

1. Turn left, left walking stance, left low block.
2. Step forward, right walking stance, right body punch.

Self Defense

Specials - add on to the A series

1. Grab the attackers right hand with your right hand. As you pull the persons arm toward you, step in with the left foot and throw a left elbow to the face.

2. Right elbow to side of the head, open arm, grab the head and bring the face down to the right knee.

3. Block down on the second punch with the right hand chop and stab to the stomach with the left hand body thrust. Then on the third punch, block with left hand block, and right round elbow to the head.

4. Grab the second punch with the left hand, walk under the grabbed arm, punch to the head with right hand from behind.

5. After the roundhouse kick, let go of the captured hand, and left jump front kick before putting the right foot down after doing the double kicks.

Self Defense

A Series (A6 - A10)

A6. Step diagonally to the left as you block the punch with a right knife hand. Throw a right roundhouse to the body and as you land, right knife hand chop to the side of the neck.

A7. Step in with the left foot as you perform a high X- block on the punch with your right hand on the top. Turn to your right as you turn the captured hand with your 16ft hand so that the back of the elbow is resting on you left shoulder. Pull down on the arm to break the elbow on your shoulder at the same time you strike back to the attacker's right side with your right elbow.

A8. Step left diagonally and block the punch with a right ridge block. With t(ie same hand, poke to the face. After poking the face, grab the punch and pull down as you perform a left uppercut to the chin of the attacker. The uppercut punch has to be under the arm of the attacker. Done correctly, the uppercut will break the elbow at the same time you strike the attacker's chin. Finish with right knee.

A9. Step back with the right foot into defensive stance as you use a left inner forearm block on the punch. Kick to the stomach with a right front kick. Before your right leg lands, jump at your attacker, grab their shoulders and strike their stomach with your left knee attack.

A10. Step right diagonally as you block the punch with your left knife hand as you strike to the stomach with right body punch. Follow immediately with a right round elbow to the head. Grab the attacker's right hand with the left hand. Grab the attacker's right leg with right hand. Pull attacker off balance, finish with right axe kick.

Taeguk 3 Sam-Jong

1. Turn left into left walking stance, left low block.
2. Right front kick, land into right front stance, double punch starting with right hand.
3. Turn behind to the right into a right walking stance, right low block.

5. Turn left into left walking stance, right hand inverted knife hand chop.

A Series (A11 - A15)

A11 Step left diagonally into a horse riding stance, grab punch with right hand. Left palm heel strike to elbow to break it. Step in with the right foot, right ridge hand strike to the body, continue to spin, left elbow to the head.

A12 Step left diagonally, grab punch with right hand. Perform four kick combination, all without putting foot down. Right leg roundhouse to the body, right leg side kick to the knee, right leg crescent to the head, and right leg roundhouse to the face.

A13 Step back with the right foot, grab the punch with the right hand. Right leg front kick to the body and place your kicking foot behind the opponent's leg. Pull the opponent towards you and release die hand. Grab your opponent across their chest with your right hand and trip them over your leg and hip. Finish with a left palm heel to the face,

A14 Step right diagonally, grab punch with left hand. Left roundhouse to the body. With the captures hand, starting from behind their knee, reach under their groin and pull arm towards you. Once they are on the ground finish with an ax kick

A15 Fall to your left side, right roundhouse to the body. Bring the leg back, right hook behind the opponent's leg and make them fall forwards. Grab their foot, twist and break ankle.

1. Turn left into a back stance, double knife hand block.
2. Step forward into a front stance, right body thrust.
3. Turn all the way behind into back stance, double knife hand block.
4. Step forward into front stance, left hand body thrust.
5. Turn left into left front stance, swallow tail block (left open high block, right inverted knife hand strike.)
6. Keep hands in place, right front kick, right front stance, left body punch.
7. Left side kick, land into left from- stance.
8. Right side kick, land into back stance, double knife hand block.
9. Turn 270 (three walls) to the left, left back stance, left outer forearm block.
10. Front kick with right leg, bring it back to starting place, right hammer block.

B Series (B1 - B5)

B 1 Step left diagonally into a horse stance and throw a right round elbow to the body, followed immediately by a left round elbow to the head.

B2 Step right diagonally into a horse stance and perform a left knife block on the punch as you throw a right round elbow to the head. Pivot right into a right front stance and throw a left upward elbow.

B3 Step t^Tinto a horse stance and perform a left knife block to the punch as you throw a right knife hand chop to the neck. Bring your hands and feet to the center then step forward with the right foot into a right back stance as you throw a right backfist to the face and a left vertical punch to the stomach. Pivot right into a right front stance and grab the groin with a left groin spear. Bring the right foot back into a right cat stance and chop down on the groin with the right hand.

B4 Step back with the left foot into a defensive stance as you perform a right low block. Immediately step in with your left foot, place it behind your right footright foot, step with your right foot and place it behind the attacker's front foot. Continue to swing the right arm through from the low block, hook it under the attacker's arm and bring your opponent down to the ground. Finish with a left punch.

B5 This is very similar to B4, the only difference is that you step back with your right foot into a defensive stance and throw a left low block. As soon as you block, turn behind you back all the way and step in with your right foot. From here you are doing B4. Place the right foot behind your attacker's front foot, swing your right arm through under the attacker's arm and bring your opponent down to the ground. Finish with a left punch.

3. Turn right all the way behind, into right front stance, right low block.

6. Right front kick, land in front stance, right inverted back fist strike, left hammer block.

B Series (B6 - B10)

B6 Step back with your left foot into a defensive stance as you block the punch with a right hand knifehand block. Kick the opponent behind their right knee with a left roundhouse. Continue to turn clockwise and finish your opponent with a mid-section spin hook kick to their lowered head.

B7 Step in with your left foot, grab the punch with your left hand and perform an upward ridgehand to the groin with the right hand. As you ,juck under the captured hand, twist the opponents hand so that it is now behind their back. After taking two quick, small steps you should land with your left leg in the back. Grsb the head with your right hand and bring the head down strongly as you bring up your knee to hit the head.

B8 Crouch down until your left knee is one the ground, right leg is bent at the knee. Block the punch with a left knifehand block. Spin clockwise all the way around on the ground so that your right foot sweeps your opponent off their feet. The right foot should strike the opponent behind their right lower calf or behind the heel. After the sweep, recover right away and using the same right foot, finish with a strong front kick to your fallen opponent.

B9 Step in with your left side as you wrap your arm around the punch in a counter clock motion. Lift up on your opponents arm to apply pressure to the elbow. Make sure the elbow is pointing up. With a right tiger punch, strike the opponent in the throat as you place your right foot behind their right foot to trip them. Finish with a left leg stomp to the face.

B10 Step in with the right side as you grab the punch with a left hand. At the same time, strike your opponent in the face with a right face punch. Immediately hit your attacker's head on the right side with a right hand backfist strike to the temple. Open the backfist and place the right hand behind the attacker's head on their neck. As you push down on the neck with your right hand, lift up your left hand rapidly. This will cause your attacker to spin off their feet, where you can finish off with an ax kick. This requires leverage and speed.

Taeguk 6

1. Turn left into a left front stance, left low block.
2. Throw a right front kick, bring the leg back, land into a left back stance and perform a left outer forearm block.
3. Turn to the open belt side, into a right front stance, right low block.
4. Throw a left front kick, bring the leg back, land into a right back stance and perform a right outer forearm block.
5. Turn left and step into a left front stance, right knife hand block.
6. Right roundhouse kick, land next to the other leg, turn left.
7. Step into a left front stance, left outer forearm block, right body punch.
8. Right front kick, land into a right front stance, left body punch.
9. Turn to the open belt side, right front stance, right outer forarm block, left body punch.
10. Left front kick, land into a left front stance, right body punch.
11. Turn left and perform a slow double low block in the relaxed stance.
12. Step forward into a right front stance, left knife hand block.
13. Left roundhouse, KIHAP. land and turn 270 degrees to the right.

B Series (B11 - B15)

Bll Step back with the left leg into a defensive stance, left crescent kick to block the punch and before the leg comes down, perform a right leg jump roundhouse to the body.

B12 Step back with the right foot leg into a defensive stance, right inside crescent kick to block the punch. Continue through with the spin and finish with a jump spin right leg roundhouse.

B13 Step in with the left side, left high block. Double punch to the body starting with the right hand. Pick up the left foot and as it comes down, jump right leg roundhouse to the face.

B14 Step left diagonally and block the punch with a right knife hand block. Double punch to the body, starting with the left hand. Pick up the left leg and cross it in front of your body and as it comes down, jump off your right leg to your right. While in the air, throw a right leg roundhouse kick to the face. (Cut the angle, jump roundhouse)

B15 Step in with the left side, left high block. Capture the punch hand with both your hands. Duck under the arm as you twist the arm counter-clockw'.se. Keep your hold on the attacker with the left hand. As you step back with -;-our left foot into a defensive stance, strike the b&ck of the neck with a right downward hammer strike. Pick up the left leg and cross it in front of your body and as it comes down, jump off your right leg to your right. While in the air, throw a right leg roundhouse kick to the face. (Cut the angle, jump roundhouse)

Hi-Purple Belt

Form

Won Hyo

Won Hyo is th name of the monk who brought Buddhism to Korea. There are 28 movements with the KIHAPS at #12 and #26. The form is in the shape of "I" and there are two new techniques: scoop block and guarding block. The new stances are: kicking stance and fixed stance.
1. From Won Hyo ready stance, turn left into a left back stance double forearm block .
2. Bring left hand toward the body, rise up a little, as you come down, chop at your wrist with the right hand.
3. Bring left leg back to center, step in the same direction into a left fixed stance and punch with the left hand.
4. Bring left leg to center, turn right to the other side into a right back stance, double forearm block.
5. Bring right hand back towards the body, rise up slightly, as you come down, chop at your wrist with your left hand.
6. Bring right hand back to center, step out in the same direction into a right fixed stance and right body punch.
7. Bring right leg back to center, left kicking stance.
8 & 9. Left side kick, and land into a left back stance double knife hand block.
10. Going forward, right back stance, double knife
11. Going forward, left back stance, double knife.
12. Right front stance, right body thrust. KIHAP
13. 270 degree turn to the left, and repeat number 1.
14. Repeat number 2

Self Defense

C Series (C1 - C4)

Cl Right open hand block against the kick, push the kick away from your body. Slide in with both feet, place the right foot behind the attacker s support leg and trip as you throw a right ridge hand to the body and continue with the arm to throw your opponent down over your leg. Finish with left hand push.

C2 Grab kick with left hand, slide in with both feet as you place your right foot in front of the attacker's support leg. Right backfist to the temple. Open the right hand up and grab the attacker behind the head. Pull the attacker forward off their feet and finish with left ax kick.

C3 Grab the kick with both hands (low open hand X block), left front kick to the groin. Push the captured leg towards the attacker, making the attacker lose his balance. Finish with a right ax kick.

C4 Against 2 kicks - Block the first kick as you step back with the right foot. Grab the second kick with the right hand. Run in and perform a left heel sweep while still holding the leg. Finish with ax kick.

Tae Guk 7 Chil-Jong

1. Turn left into left cat stance, right j)alm block.
2. Right front kick, return the leg and stay in left cat stance, left hammer block.
3. Turn all the way behind into right cat stance, left palm block.
4. Left front kick, return the leg and stay in right cat stance, right hammer block.
5. Turn left into a left back stance, double low knife hand block.
6. Step forward into a right back stance, double low knife hand block.
7. Bring up the left foot, turn left into a left cat stance, right hand performs a left palm block, supported by the left hand.
8. Stay in place and flip the right hand over to throw a back fist to the face.
9. Turn all the way behind into a right cat stance. The left hand performs a palm block, supported by the right hand.
10. Stay in place and flip the hand over to throw a back fist to the face.
11. Turn left and with both feet together, assume ready position.
12. Step forward into a left front stance and perform a scissor block.
13. Step forward into a right front stance and perform a scissor block.
14. Turn 270 degrees (three walls) to the right into a left front stance, choke block.
15. Right knee smash, land into aright forward X stance, double upset punch.
16. Bring the left foot back into a right front stance, left X block.
17. Turn all the way behind into a right front stance, choke block.
18. Left knee smash, land into a left forward X stance, double upset punch.
19. Bring the right foot back into a left front stance, low X block.
20. Turn left into left walking stance, back fist to the head.
21. Open the left hand, strike the hand with a right inside crescent kick. Land into a horse riding stance, right reverse elbow strike.
22. Step forward into a right walking stance, right back fist to the head.
23. Open the right hand, strike the hand with a left inside crescent kick. Land into a horse riding stance, left reverse elbow strike.
24. Move the left foot into a left back stance, single knife hand block.
25. Step forward into horse riding stance and punch with the right hand KIHAP

M Series (M1 - M5)

Ml Step back with the left foot, block the punch with a left crescent kick. Continue to spin through and throw a right leg spin hook kick to the head.

M2 Step diagonally to the right, left knife hand block as you strike to the neck with the right inverted knire strike. Step in with the right foot, place it behind the attacker's front foot. Trip the attacker backwards with a tiger punch to the throat. Finish with a right hand punch.

M3 Step left diagonally, right hand knife block. Right leg roundhouse to the body. As you are bring the rig hi leg down, place the behind the attackers front foot. Trip the attacker backwards with a tiger punch to the throat. Finish with a right hand punch.

M4 Step forward with the left side, left high block. Double punch to the body, starting with the right hand. Grab the head with both hands, as you bring the head down brin^, up your right knee and strike the face. As you are bring the right leg down, place the behind the attackers iront foot. Trip the attacker backwards with a tiger punch to the throat. Finish with a right hand punch.

M5 Step in with the right side and throw a right hammer block, continue to spin through and throw a left elbow to the body followed immediately by a left backfist to the face. Reach between your legs and grab one of your attacker's leg. Pull up on die leg to make the attacker fall. Holding onto the leg, right side kick to your attacker's face

M Series (M6 - M10)

M6 Step back into a left defensive stance, left crescent kick to block the punch and before the leg comes down, perform a right leg jump roundhouse to the body.

M7 Step back into a right defensive stance, right inside crescent kick to block the punch. Continue through with the spin and finish with a jump spin right leg roundhouse.

M8 Step in with the left side, left high block. Double punch to the body starting with the right hand. Pick up the left foot and cross it in front of the right leg. As the left foot comes down, jump roundhouse with the right leg to the face.

M9 Step left diagonally and block the punch with a right knife hand block. Double punch to the body, starting with the left hand. Pick up the left foot and cross it in front of the right leg. As the left foot comes down, jump roundhouse with the right leg to the face.

M10 Step back into left defensive stance. Left inside crescent kick to block the punch. Continue with the spin into a right spin hook kick. Set into a right defensive stance and finish with a right leg roundhouse, jump spin roundhouse kick.

Defense Against a Cross Wrist Grab

All techniques in the next series will be defenses against a seized cross wrist and every technique requires that the attacker grab with full power and the defender, defends with fluid and decisive movement. A Kihap and a finish, be it a lock up or strike, are required to finish your attacker. At all times when an attacker seizes one of your hands use a distraction technique.

1. Counter grab your attackers wrist and apply pressure with a knifehand to the elbow, just above the elbow at tricep. Force your attacker forward to the ground. Finish with a arm lock.

2. Counter grab your attackers wrist and apply pressure with a palm heel just above the arm pit. Roll shoulder into place while forcing him straight down. Keep this lock.

3. Grab your attackers, duck under his arm and lever it over your shoulder (palm up). Strike the solar plexus with an elbow and continue to bring the arm up and over your head. Bring him down and lock the arm by kneeling on it.

4. Grab your attackers wrist, step in striking the face with forearm. Wrap the striking hand over and under the arm placing him in an arm bar.

Ahn Jun Gun was the patriot of Korea who assassinated Ito Burmi of Japan when Korea was under Japan rule. The thirty two movements represent his age when Jun Gun was executed. The kihap points are at 12 and 32.

Defense Against Same Side Wrist Grabs

All techniques in the next series will be defense against a seized wrist from the same side and every techniques requires that the attacker grabs with full power and the defender, defends with decisive and fluid movement. A KIHAP and a finish, be it a lock or strike, are required to finish your attacker. At all times when an attacker has seized one of your hands use a distraction technique.

1. Pull your trapped hand up using counter force(palm up). Reach under and grasp his hand and twist his hand counter clockwise. Apply pressure consistently with both hands throwing him to the floor, elbow up and palm down. Kneel on his triceps.

2. Pull your trapped hand up using counter force(palm up). Reach under and grasp his hand and twist his hand counter clockwise. Place pressure using knifehand against the knuckles of the twisted wrist and force his hand back toward him. Finish the same as #1.

3.Pull your trapped hand up using counter force(palm away). Grasp his wrist and release by breaking his thumb. Use a forearm strike to the back of the arm driving him to the ground. Lock him up.

4.Pull your trapped hand up using counter force(palm away). Grasp his wrist and release by breaking his thumb. Use a front kick to soften him up while you whip arm with wrist lock, kick to face, drive him to ground maintaining wrist lock. Kneel on either side of his arm to maintain hold.

Defense Against a Headlock

All techniques in the next series will be defenses against a headlock and every technique requires that the attacker grabs his opponent with full power and the defender, defends with decisive and fluid movement. A KIHAP and a finish, be it a lock or strike, are required to finish your attacker.

1. You're placed in a side headlock. Pull down to get air. Step behind your attacker, placing your knee behind his, slip your arm through on same side of attackers body and grab wrist of attacker with other hand, sit back bringing attacker back and down. Finish with elbow strike to face or chest.

2. You're placed in a side headlock. Pull down to get air. Trap the shin and push the pressure point behind the knee forcing him to the ground. Finish by bending the knee up and twisting the ankle. Trap the leg under your body and grab some hair.

3. You're placed in a side headlock. Pull down to get air. Reach across to the back of attackers knee. Push into the back of knee while pulling the hair or collar with the other hand. Finish with an elbow strike.

4. You're placed in a side headlock. Pull down to get air. Strike with a ridgehand to the groin. Push the elbow over your head while locking the wrist and torquing it forward in the direction you want to throw your attacker.

Dan Gun

Dan Gun is the name of the legendary founder of Korea. He founded Korea in 2333 B.C. Dan Gun is in the shape of an "I" and has 20 movements. There are both front stances and back stances in the form. The punches are ALL face punches. The 270-degree turn from Ki Cho Hyung is also used in Dan Gun. The kihap points are at #8 and #20.

Dosan was the name used by Chang Ho Ahn, who was a reknowned educator and the leader of Korean independence. There are 24 movements in Dosan with the use of both the front stance and the back stance. There are two new movements : choke block, and body thrust. The KfflAPS are at #6 and #24.
1 & 2. From ready stance, turn left and outer forearm block-punch combo in left front stance.
3 & 4. Bring left foot to center half step and turn 180 degrees and outer forearm block-punch combo in right front stance.

Defense Against Hair Grabs

All techniques in this series will be defenses against a hair grab and eveiy lechnkpie requires that the attacker grab with intent and the defender defends with decisive and fluid movement A KI HAP and a finish, be it a lock up or strike, arc required to finish your opponent.

1. As your opponent grabs your hair, trap his grasping hand with your cross hand. This is done by holding the hand in place while finishing the rest of the technique. When you trap the hand simultaneously strike his forearm and step back driving him to the ground. Bend the trapped hand back toward him, palm up, and apply pressure down pinning the elbow in place.

2. As your opponent grabs your hair, trap his grasping hand with both of your hands. Step into him and duck under the trapped arm (as in center lock). Keep the hand trapped and raise your head to increase the pressure.

3. As your opponent grabs your hair, trap his grasping hand with your same side hand and strike with a vertical punch with the opposite hand. Trap his grasping hand with both of your hands. Step into him and duck under the trapped arm (as in center lock). As you turn into him. sweep his leg and pull him forward throwing him to the ground.

4. As your opponent grabs your hair, trap his grasping hand with your cross hand and strike his armpit with a raised knuckle strike (opposite hand). Keep the trap and strike his arm just above the elbow with your forearm dropping him to the ground. Maintain the wrist lock and the pressure on the elbow.

5. As your opponent grabs your hair, trap his grasping hand with your cross hand This is done by holding the hand in place while finishing the rest of the technique. When you trap the hand simultaneously soften your opponent with a kick. Grasp the trapped hand with both hands and step back. driving your opponent to the ground. Finish by bending the trapped hand back toward him palm up and apply pressure to the fingers pinning the elbow in place.

6. As your opponent grabs your hair, trap his grasping hand with your same side hand, and strike his bicep or crease of the elbow with forearm strike. This will bend the arm and finish with a arc hand strike to the throat.

Self Defense

Escort Holds

1. Basic Cross Hold- Right hand cross grabs opponent's right wrist just above the joint. Step along side opponent as you raise his right arm parallel to the ground, palm up. Wrap your left arm over and around opponent's right arm just above the elbow joint, squeeze tightly to secure. Secure your left hand onto your right arm(0ptions; grabbing your own garment or clenching your left fist close to your breast). Pressure is caused by a slight twist of opponent's arm as you apply pressure down on the wrist and up under the elbow. Use as much pressure needed for desired affect.

2. Neck Elbow Wrist- Right hand cross grabs opponent's right wrist just above the joint. Step along side opponent as you raise his arm parallel to the ground, close to your right side breast and palm up. Bring your left arm under opponent's arm and grab deep behind his neck. keep your left arm bent so that opponent's right arm is cradled in your elbow joint just above his elbow joint. To apply pressure hyper-extend opponent's arm by pulling with right arm as you straighten your left arm (keeping it hooked behind opponent's neck).You may also push down on opponent's wrist with your right arm as needed.(To apply this technique properly you must maintain good posture)

3. Shoulder Elbow Wrist- Right hand cross grabs opponent's right wrist just above the joint. Step along side opponent as you raise his arm parallel to the ground, palm up. Place his arm across the back of your neck, bending your knee to get into position(DO NOT BEND AT THE WAIST!). With your left arm grab opponent's left arm by the elbow and pin it to his left side. To apply pressure straighten your knees as you pull down on opponent's right wrist with your right arm. As you straighten turn your head towards opponent to maximize the hyper-extension.. Apply pressure as needed.

4. Wrist Hook and Break- Applied from a right side Basic Wrist Twist. Left hand grabs the thumb side of opponent's hand (Thumb gripping between opponent's thumb and fore finger, your fingers wrapped around the meaty inside of opponent's hand). Your right hand cups the inside of opponent's right arm at the elbow joint. Step along side opponent. As you move your left arm cradles opponent's arm in a circular motion away from you until his forearm is parallel to the ground. At the same time your right arm guilds opponent's arm into you. Opponent's arm should be secure in your left arm with his fingers pointed up and his palm facing you. You may maintain control of opponent's arm using your right arm to assist. Apply pressure by pulling opponent's hand into you as you twist his wrist out toward his thumb. Apply pressure as needed.

*) Basic Wrist Twist- Your right hand grabs opponent's right hand on the little finger side (thumb around the back of opponent's hand, fingers grabbing the blade to the inside). Left hand grabs the thumb side of opponent's hand (thumb around the back of opponent's hand, fingers grabbing the meaty inside). Keep opponent's wrist above his shoulder and lined up to his head. Keep opponent's arm straight by maintaining distance. To apply pressure push opponent's hand toward his head using your hands (NOT LEANING WITH YOUR BODY!). As you push also twist his hand towards his thumb. This technique may be used for submission or transition( See above #4 for example).
